Constituents

Evergreen shrub. Height 3 meters. Leaves and bark. Plant extracts contains quassin, quassimarin, beta-sitosterol, quassinoid, gallic acid, and malic acid (Apple). Bitter.

Therapeutics

This is medicine for dyspepsia. 

It is medicine for malaria.

It is medicine for hyperglycaemia (Syzygium aromaticum).

It is medicine externally for pinworms.

It is medicine externally for dandruff, and lice (Sabadilla).

It is remedy for amblyopia, and cataract (Calotropis).

It is remedy for infertility due to orchitis. 

It is the prime remedy for weak vital force.

It is remedy for drawing discomfort on abdomen with beating sensation extending to legs.

It had been used as insecticide.

Word “Quassia” was the name of a negro who employed its bark as a remedy for fever. Word “amara” means bitter (Myrrh).
