Andrographis paniculata. P. B. Kader Kochi.

Synonyms

Indian echinacea, Chirreta, Kiriyathu, Bhoomi veppu, Naela vembu, Maha tita, Kalmegh, Naine havandhi (Persia).


Constituents

Annual plant. Height 1 meter. Leaves and root contain flavonoids, diterpenes, kalmeghin, and andrographolide. Bitter.


Therapeutics

This is medicine for polyphagia, and dyspepsia.

It has anti-viral and anti-bacterial properties.

It is medicine for fever during wet and cold weather.

It is medicine for post fever fatigue syndrome.

It is medicine for hyperglycaemia.

It is medicine for cough.

It is medicine for renal stone.

It is medicine for cobra bite poisoning (Piper niger).

It is remedy for common cold, sinusitis, tonsillitis and respiratory symptoms associated with fever during summer (Nux vomica).

It is remedy for chronic inflammatory diseases associated with immune deficiency.

It is remedy for familial Mediterranean fever.

It is remedy for chronic hepatitis.

It is remedy for anorexia.

It is remedy for symptoms with excessive body heat.

It is remedy for warm disorders (Eczema, acne, meningitis, gout, hepatitis, ulcer).

It is remedy for atherosclerosis.

It is remedy for infertility.

It is a blood purifier.

Word “maha tita” means King of bitter. Word “kalmegh” means dark cloud.
